LEED Canada for Homes Celebrates its First Anniversary with the Registration of its 500th Home!

Less than one year after the national launch of the LEED Canada for Homes rating system, the CaGBC has registered 500 homes!

While 2009 was considered a slower year for many homebuilders across the Country, the LEED Canada for Homes program made significant inroads by offering a tool which supports the building of high quality, efficient, and durable homes.  The program has grown over the last year and now has 11 Providers supporting registered projects from Vancouver Island, British Columbia to St. John's, Newfoundland, and every province in between.

Many homes of the LEED Canada Home continue to focus  on the fundamentals of building a tight well insulated envelope, efficient heat recovery from exhaust air and drain water, modestly sized homes, located in transit accessible communities.

Supporting this dynamic system is a streamlined certification process has helped to drive interest from leading builders across Canada, including reasonable participation costs, limited paperwork ( three forms required for submission to the CaGBC), and helpful on-site inspections.

Contact a Provider in your area for more information on how you can be part of the LEED Canada for Homes program and benefits.  Program details and Provider contact information can be found here.
